An Instrument of the Anthropocene brings together six photographs and a written poem to examine the effects of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s powerplant industry as a particular case study for a ubiquitous phenomenon shared by us all: the Anthropocene. Although TVA is a worldwide leader in industrial development, the ecological cost of the institution’s “progress” epitomizes the problematic structures and values shaping the current human epoch. An Instrument of the Anthropocene contemplates the detrimental effects of humanity’s anthropocentric and anthropogenic patterns on the biosphere.
