The Algorithmic State: What Are Machines Learning and What Are We Learning from Machines?
September 7, 2023
MA Curatorial Practice presents a talk with Caroline A. Jones, professor in the fistory, theory, and criticism section of the department of architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1956, the concept of “intelligence” within the technological realm ignited debates that continue to this day. Drawing parallels to the early “cybernated art” that bypassed computer use, professor Jones navigates the evolution of avant-garde GAN collaborations and the luminous artworks they produced. An integral part of her talk will spotlight her recent project “Latent Archive,” a machine-learning protocol for spatializing cinema.
