Embraceable is a group exhibition that begins with the idea that the parent-child relationship is an accumulation of intricate emotions. Binary opposition does not work in judging or defining this relationship, as it is shaped by personal experiences. By setting aside judgment, we may be able to focus on our emotions. This exhibition explores the complex emotions inherent in parent-child relationships and aims to blur binary judgments by confronting the complexity and vulnerability of interpersonal relationships.
The featured artists share their intricate emotions drawn from personal experiences with parents, using both documentary and metaphorical approaches. Through series and ongoing projects ranging from mixed media, painting, photography, and short videos, they convey genuine feelings driven by the intertwined movements of delight and trauma. Their stories continue to evolve from the past into the present, as the meaning of parent-child dynamics remains in flux.
The exhibition invites viewers into an embraceable space where indescribable feelings are welcome, and the self can reflect on or fit into personal experiences.
